CETAA Sets Guinness World Record

Trivandrum (2022) : 288 singers, led by CETAA , an alumni organization of College of Engineering (CET), Thiruvananthapuram created Guinness World Record by singing 14 songs online for 58 consecutive minutes.

Alumni from across 18 countries sang songs with the theme of world peace, patriotism and brotherhood through Zoom Meeting. The record is based on the number of participants. CETAA broke another organisation’s record in which 55 people sang together through the online relay singing event ‘Swaralahari’.

An important hightlight of the event was that the Alumni members spread across batches between 1955 to 2021 along with a continous representation from the years 1968 to 2021(54 years). The oldest participant being 88 years and youngest one 21 years old.

The event started with singing ‘Vande Mataram’. Songs in English, Hindi,Tamil and Malayalam were also sung. The verdict was declared online from Dubai by a team of Guinness Adjudicator Ms.Kanzy El Defrawy and witnesses Machingal Radhakrishnan and Matthew Kavalam. Krishnakumar, UAE President of CETAA, received the Guinness World Record Certificate from Ms.Kanzy El Defrawy.

The training was led by 14 team leaders under the supervision of Organizing Committee members Sangeet Menon (UAE) , Deepu AS (UAE) , Anand V(INDIA) and Deepa Fernandez (USA). They received able support from CETAA Secretary Dr. Jayasree and CETAA Convenor E.R Premachandra Bhas. The meeting held at Galaxy Hall in the Residency Tower, Trivandrum was inaugurated by CET alumnus and music director M Jayachandran online.
