The triple lockdown, which was first introduced effectively in Kasargode, is a three-phase approach to contain spread of the disease.
Due to the lack of proper treatment methods, preventing spread of infections by containment was found to be the best approach in places like Kasargode.
Under the triple lockdown, the first approach is general containment strategy by preventing movement of public while the second is to create containment zones after identifying clusters in areas where positive cases are reported. The lock three is a more focussed approach on wherein primary and secondary contacts and the infected persons are kept under surveillance through various approaches like deployment of guards in front of houses of infected persons, through houses visits or monitoring using technology.
