TrivandrumLife>> Three new Covid 19 cases in the districts are causing concern among the health workers. Cases of an ASHA worker in Kattakkada, a KSRTC driver, and a mobile shop owner are creating new headache as they have interacted with a lot of people in the last few days. Increasing cases with unknown sources of infection also points to more serious health crisis.
As per the route map published by the district administration, the 40-year-old KSRTC driver has been active in his work and conducted several trips. On June 5, he transported 45 passengers from Thiruvananthapuram central railway station to Inchivila border. He has also transported passengers from railway station to quarantine centre at Poojappura, guest workers from Nemom police station to railway station etc. He developed symptoms by June 12 and was tested positive on June 15.
The 51-year-old ASHA worker in Kattakkada has been active with house visits and has also helped her husband in his tea shop. She is learnt to have contacted around 700 persons, forcing the district administration to declare Kattakada as a hotspot and its 10 wards as containment zones. The ASHA worker is asymptomatic and was tested as part of sentinel surveillance.
The 28-year-old mobile shop owner in the city had returned from Malappuram on May 27. He was tested positive on Tuesday after he developed symptoms.
Around 11 health workers, including doctors, of general hospital were asked to go on quarantine after Rameshan’s test results came positive after his death. He had taken treatment at GH and MCH.
Cases with unknown sources are growing in the city. Sources of infection of Vanchiyoor-native Rameshan, father K G Varghese and Pothencode-native Abul Aziz are still unknown.
