Top IT Destinations In India
When the IT companies are waking up from recession and looking for a space to expand its operations, Trivandrum stands top on their list. On a recent study conducted by Rediff Business to check where in India has the IT boom already taken off, Trivandrum holds the fourth position as the hottest IT destination after Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai.
Here is the list of states by their rank:
1. Bangalore
2. Hyderabad
3. Chennai
4. Trivandrum
5. Pune
6. Mumbai
7. Kolkatta
8. Delhi
9. Ahemmedabad
10. Bhubaneswar
That was some refreshing news after the gloomy budget. But I am concerned over the fact that none of our local media have ever reported/conducted such a study. Yes, what we need is some ground support!

Its heartening to see Trivandrum being consistantly featured in the top IT destination lists in various surveys. That clearly sends out the message that the investment scenario in Kerala on a general basis and Trivandrum specifically, is far better than the many of the heavyweights like Pune or Ahmedabad, unlike widely perceived outside the state.
It is very important that we spread the news as our holier-than-thou local press won’t care to apply ink to such ‘unimportant’ news item. Good work putting it up here Srijith, hope we get to see more such items instead of sex scandals, cinema-stars mudslingings, cricket- bollywood gossips and manufactured controversies…
Yes…Hip Hip Hurray…i have no more words to express my feelings about this.
Da “Here is the list of states by their rank:” …list of cities …
Great post
Thanks for pointing out the mistake!
It is city
How can you say trivandrum is ‘hot’ in IT? May be they considered the climate!! Other than that, there is nothing worth to be ‘hot’. How many MNC’s do you have there??
Dear Rohan,
If you consider ‘hot’ as in climate, Trivandrum will be behind all the Northern states where the ‘hotness’ shoots up to the upper side of 45 degrees. We enjoy a tropical climate averaging around 30 degrees.
Presence of MNC’s is not the scale for ranking an IT destination. It’s more about human resource. Trivandrum can proudly boast about its immense ‘quality’ human resource, thanks to the presence of a range of high end knowledge centers in here. Living cost, climate, availability of infrastructure, credibility of the workforce etc plays a key role in determining the rank of an IT destination.
haa haa! Infrastructure?? Do you guys down there know what it is?
Dont make me start on the work force in Trivandrum. It sucks! Living cost is low. Just like it is lower in a remote village in Maharashtra than in Mumbai. Living cost depends on lifestyle! If you dont have any place to ‘spend’ what you have, living cost will be lower!
ha ha seems like you can't digest the fact that Trivandrum came up tops unlike some marshy over hyped land, where people add 'city' to all and sundry projects
Hi, Its been great to know that TVM is featuring in this. Well I don’t undesrtand why people @rohan cant adjust nor want to digest these facts. Well may be he loves to see some other city on that list.Anyway the slow but sure development of tvm is the best we want.Beacuse cities like Mumbai even Kochi is the best example for some unplanned development.Waiting for TVM to move much further .
Cheers TVM
“Scorpiogenius” has raised concern why Trivandrum’s position has not been carried by the press. If it is Cochin, the press would have blown the trumpet. There is much hype about Cochin. We have to make efforts towards bringing Trivandrum into focus.
The TECHNOCTY project should pick up.
True Samuel. The ill efects of paid news culture. Just because we dont have any land mafia trying to boost the real estate prices, there is no one to pay media for boosting the image of Trivandrum. Sad, but a truth.

Carrying on quietly is a lot better than spreading unnecessary hype………
guys whatever… the happiest news about trivandrum is getting lot of projects & developing without any hype.
Very nice info and right to the point. I am not sure if this is in fact the best place to ask but do you guys have any ideea where to get some professional writers? Thx
How can we try to justify somebody who is hell bent on not accepting the fact that Trivandrum is hot in IT, when he already has the link by Rediff that Trivandrum is a hot IT destination.
