Technocity: TDF’s Open Letter To All Media
Main stream media was completely ignoring the of the largest IT project in Kerala – Technocity. A few of us raised sound against this, and now TDF – Trivandrum Development Front have came up with an open letter to all Media representatives.
From the letter:
TDF believes that the media play a vital role in building public awareness and support for suchprojects. Kerala’s media should respect the aspirations of the State’s youth, who seekemployment in these projects and should support the Government in developing our State.Despite this and the fact that every media organisation in Kerala, including yours, was adequatelyrepresented at the launch event, the coverage given has either been insignificant or absentaltogether which does not befit the occasion. In contrast, extensive coverage has often beengiven to similar events involving private IT parks all of which are much smaller than Technocity, and all of which have latter come to naught, exposing the lack of commitment of the respective promoters.

It is not the problem with the media. It is basically the lack of interest of Kerala people in these projects. For some reason the projects in TVM does not get much attention or interest from people north of Pathanamthitta. That is why media does not give much importance to it. People above Pathanamthitta views it as Kerala Govt taking money from all of them and doing all the investment in TVM does not looking into the convenience of all Kerala people. If any doubt you can always look at the top revenue generating districts of Kerala and the top districts which receive investments from Kerala Govt. If that perception can be fixed all these problems will get fixed. Not only this… Even look at the real estate sector. Even though TVM has lot of potential but all the major national and international players dump money in Kochi. It is all because of the perception created which should be changed with major PR work ….
