Support Shashi Tharoor

Let us show support for Shashi Tharoor, smart and educated politician who tried to do best for Trivandrum. Indian Politics may not be the best place for him, but let us continue supporting him for his future initiatives to bring the best for State.

It has once again proved that education or domain expertise are not the skills needed to be in Indian Politics. We, at TvmLife had hope in him, that he will bring some investments to the city and the state. Let us hope for the best, and support Sashi Tharoor in his future initiatives for the State.

And lately, IT department gave a clean chit to Sashi Tharoor. Now we need an explanation for why he was asked to resign. If it was just to save the face of Congress, that’s the dumbest thing ever to do!

Update: Dr Shashi Tharoor’s statement in Parliament.

Post a comment and show your support to Tharoor.

In love with Trivandrum

Mr. Tharoor had a vision for Trivandrum, which we all hope will see the light of day. We wish and pray it is only a brief respite for him, and he will come back with more vigour, and fulfill his commitments to trivandrum.

I recall the voting pattern which returned Tharoor with a heavy margin. Most of the votes he garnered were from the suburbs of Trivandrum. The voting percentage from Trivandrum city was very less. This clearly showed that the people of Trivandrum wanted him for a better Trivandrum.

Let us hope, as MP, he will continue with his mission.

He was awesome, energetic leader with good communication skills. His absence in foreign ministry now makes a huge gap. And hope congress wont replace this position with a worthless old person

      • And now it is your turn Mr.Taroor, that now u can spend more time with Trivandrum and with people of Trivandrum. You have much more things to do here within 5 years. Politics is politricks. You can show indian politics who you are. The credibility of BJP and LDF politics is worsening everyday and losing support.
So be brave and we are with you.

Please..all malayalees unite..support Tharoor..we need politicians like him badly..don’t allow selfish people to tarnish the image of Tharoor..we all love you Sir..

    • Josekutty /

He was totally a different face in Indian politics, and we had high hopes when he was inducted in Union Ministry. As a Minister her performed well, but could have tried to avoid unnecessary controversies.

In IPl issue also, he is not at fault, but cast shadow of suspicion with Ms. Sunanda Pushkar’s involvement.

Let us hope Mr. Sashi will stage a great come back clearing all the doubts.

      Wish him all success.

Some people do think Shashi Tharoor had some visions for Kerala and for that only he stood for Kochi IPL. But the fact that, he is just a business man turned politician who had interest only in his business activities. What is the benefit of an IPL Team in Kerala, when the prices of rice and other commidities are increasing day by day. As a minister and MP he should have prime interests for the common people who had struggling for their food and not for the money powered games like IPL or whatever it is.

    • You cannot get rice from air! No society can prosper with out industries/businesses. Without much land to cultivate, kerala is turning into a buyers community where we need to get everything from other states. Govt need money to make the flow smooth, good businesses means more taxes and more money for govt. Along with that more jobs and more BPL to APL conversion. So it is not the funds or jobless-pensions or subsidies which is going to help the Aam jantha, it is business. Understand the truth.

    • Indian /

      You are right Sreejith.

      • Firose Jinna /

Tharoor is the future of Kerala.

This is a consumer state, somewhere moving along the lines of Gulf countries when it comes to buying. If we cant grow and produce our needs, then we should having the buying power. And we need politicians who think on these lines just like the rulers of Gulf states. Not ones that still live in the past, making false promises. When governments in such foreign countries believe in building for the future, our governments believe in destruction for no reasons.

Tharoor surely was some one with a futuristic vision with his international exposure. Hope he continues with this for Trivandrum and be a great example for the entire nation.

    • Tim Thomas /

Anil Kumar, Cant you think positively? Did shashi tharoor took away your rice? Even if he has his investment in the Kochi IPL, I do support him. It is not a crime to invest money into a business and being a servant for the states.

He has done a great thing in bringing the sports to the state, which will definitely aid huge revenue for the governments.

  6. binosh /

Mr Tharoor you are the new face of kerala and india. We all love and support you. This is the beginning of your political career.
Our communist leaders didn’t want computer, any investment nor IPL.What about Kolkatta IPL?.Whether the same leaders will oppose this?.They made kerala a devils place.

You are the first MP to get in to the hearts of Keralites.

  7. Shashi Tharoor is the only person with the potential to rule out all the injustice and underground politics.Shashi Tharoor “KI JAI”. It is not the position that counts but the respect that you have earned in your heart that counts…. We will always be with you…. Go on… figth for us and we will give you blood….

  8. Anish /

I support Mr. Tharoor for efforts.Hats off,,,

  9. R U Sure /

Dr. Tharoor is indeed educated and smart. But did he not try to fool too many people? If what keralawatch.com says is true (the documents that they show give that impression) then he has duped the voters of tvm, of course with the help of others. What is the guarante thta he was not trying to pay the kerala card and or IPL Kochi for his personal interests. After the lady in the middle, who claimed herself as a business consultant with international experience and all that gave up her swaet equity, the cat is out of the bag. She seems to be just a proxy. Please for heavens sake be objective in your asessments. DO NOT SUPPORT ANYONE ON EMOTIONAL GROUNDS. Malayalees are said to be intelectually endowed. Please do not fall for emotions. Let the facts decide the fate. കര്‍മണ്യെ വാധികരസ്തതെ

  10. If resignation is a punishment then Tharoor has accepted it even before being proven guilty. In India, a country which boasts of the immaculate freedom of thought and the multi cultural unity, Tharoor’s plight comes down as the biggest irony ever. Congress cant justify their statement that they cant defend Tharoor in the house. So unlike congress who has defended so many tainted and incompetent politicians starting from the Bhajan Lals to the Sivraj patil likes…

  11. Indian /

Indian politicians have time, only for blaming the opponent or the ruling party and to try the level best for going in to the power again. They are not concerned about the people, they are not concerned about the capability of the candidate. Taroor is the one of the most capable Indians ( I can’t see anybody else in the ministry who can take over his current role and continue his missions with all the values he had shown ) .

From the day 1 the incapable politicians were afraid of Taroor . They feared that they will be thrown out from the politics by the people of India if some well educated or capable persons like taroor is coming in to ministry. So irrespective of the boundaries of states and the parties all the politicians were trying to misinterpret his words to the public or the media with an extra ordinary enthusiasm. We want our nation improve, we want a capable young blood to position India much better than the developed nations in America and Europe. So dear politicians Stop playing , stop blaming and work hard for the people and growth of the nation otherwise the day is not far you will be thrown out of the system by the people of India. ( Jai Hind)

  12. Anilkumar /

    Dear Srijith,
I won’t blame you. It’s the thinking of the new generation. What you said is correct. You cannot get rice from air nor from cricket. What I said is, Mr. Sashi Tharoor, as a minister of India, should have more interest in common man’s needs. IPL is a world of money manipulation. If you can’t understand it, just go through the tender procedures of this year’s IPL and last year’s IPL. Crores and crores are flowing throgh the hands of four or five business personalities and just think from where all these funds are coming. What I said, if you had enough fund in your hands and you want to spend it then spend it for the development of the country. You can start business which can help eradicate the unemployment, the poverty and ofcourse profit should be there. But from IPL who is the ultimate beneficiary. Only the person who invests the money and none other. As a minister, Shashi Tharoor should not join hands with this millioniors. He should have a vision for the villages of the country where people are living like cattles.

    • jacob /

      Mr Anil Kumar
What do you think , if there is no IPL the price for the essential items going to come down. lol! For years we have seen our MP’s from both congress and communist tooks DA for attending the parliament but haven’t done any thing for the state. But if one person tried to do something for teh state we all together pulled him down. No wonder the north Indians saying we malayelees are good only for cleaning the Arabs toilet

    • You are wrong Anil. The ‘new generation’ as you brand us, know much more than IPL and cricket. We do care for the economically poor section of population. But unlike the generation which you might be a part of, we dont believe in ‘packages’ or allowances to eradicate unemployment. What we need are jobs. Plenty of them. Given the unique nature of Kerala, we cannot have large scale industries. What we can do best is in service sector, entertainment industry, tourism and health. We are doing good in service industry via IT parks. Tourism depends on external conditions which we dont have hold of. Entertainment and related services are a big unexploited field in Kerala. What Shashi Tharoor did was to identify it and provide promotion to investors. He acted like an agent to invite investors to Kerala.
Now, for your information of how IPL can be beneficial for Kerala economy. To be precise, how it can ‘bring rice’.

Consider one IPL match in Kerala. Assuming a ticket rate of 500 per entry with 50,000 seats filled a revenue of 500 * 50,000 is made. (Reality is much higher considering the high class tickets). Just from ticket sales, Rs. 25,000,000 is made out of which service tax will be around 3,000,000. That’s the money govt is getting from ticket sales alone! Much higher will be the revenue from hotels and transportations for Govt. 3,000,000 is more than enough to feed BPL rice for atleast one day with my calculations who have limited exposure to statistics in BPL.
Now got an idea how IPL can bring rice to BPL?

      • R U Sure /

And who will be paying for teh tickets? Not the VVIPs but poor average kerala bloaks! When did Dr. Tharoor bring in any investment to kerala? Why did he not persuade any of his business contacts to build enough decent toilets in Kerala, a lack of which is a serous impediment to tourism? Keralites are said to be intellectuals; so please do not be sentimental to blindly support anyone on emotions. The facts (yet to unfold) may indicate typical congress trait currently, namely greed, though no political parties or leaders are not saints!

      • A lot of cash is generated. that’s d problem.WER is it goin?? to the politicians n to d players?? to the treasury?? remeber d GOVT consists of d MINISTERS. if d ministers hav reached dis stage, den its high time, ppl gav other humans a thought…

  13. Hi Anil,
The ultimate beneficiary could be the billionaires and the way they spend it and the taxes they evade is all a different issue.

    http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/news-by-industry/et-cetera/Lalit-Modi-charged-with-Betting–Laundering/articleshow/5829947.cms

But just like what sreejith said there are considerable number ordinary poor people who get the benefit and a decent living out of every match thats being played. Tharoor dint spend his or the governments money on the so called billioniares game. What he did was just to mentor(as they call it) and get the team playing in Kerala which indisputably could have proved beneficial for many thousands of people of cousrse the billionaires too.

  14. Renjith Bahrain /

Dr. Tharoor is educated and smart person. Thats why old and uneducated colleges(other minsisters and MPs) need to kick him out. They want pannian ravindrans like persons represent TVM. Then he will recive all the allownece with sitting like a toy.All the gosais and Modi dont want to see Kerala devolping like other state. Unfortunately our Kerala govt also have the same thinking. Tharoor Ki Jay. He will reborn anew to live again like a phoenix.

  15. Hello What u r trying to say man Mr.Anilkumar? So no beneficiaries otherthan businessmen? Then what about players of Kerala? has anyone got a chance in Indian cricket otherthan some Sreesanth like.. So you are trying to close whole with darkness. 28. I really support Mr. Tharoor. I appriciate his supports and efferts done to purchase an IPL Team for Kerala. BJP and CPM are trying to make this as a political issue. Mr. Lali Modi is a strong supporter to BJP. The Income Tax people’s were sleeping for last 2 years. Thousands of crore rupees is being spend for this game. Lalit Mody played a dirty game cuz he wantys to give the team to Ahmedabad and most of the North Indian Medias helped them to demoralize the Kerala interests.

What Mr. Anilkumar says is wrong. After forming the Kerala state so many MPs from Kerala and gone to Delhi just for taking salary & DA.Whether they have done anything for Kerala. Nothing. I clearly remembers that once we got one rail coach factory at Palakkad and it is transferred to Panjab. THen no MPs from Kerala not opposed it and the concerned MP from Palakkad clapped with happy that one central gov enterprise is going out from his territory. That kind of fools are going to Kerala as MPs.

We can’t wash out all unemployement in a single moment. For washout the pooverty, we require much more industries and business should come to Kerala. For that the mind set of people should change like as Mr. Anil Kumar. If a IPL is comming to Kerala kerala is getting a good amount as tax and other things. THat will directly change the infrastructure of Kerala. Who will think such things. For that knowledge and education require.

Mr. Taroor, this is a begining. You should go ahed and we expect a world class politician from you not an Indian Politician.

    Wish yo uall the best.

  53. jotishnair /

Tharoor’s resignation is not a matter of concern as he has lot more years in his career to serve the country as a minister. Having said that, I strongly believe that it was not his business to get into the tangles of IPL, Kochi and stuff. He should have rather put his energy and wisdom on external affairs and issues pertaining to his constituency. Backing for a team where you don’t have a stadium was the most absurd thing. Everyone new that IPL matches can’t be played at Kochi untill 2014 or 2015. But he fell prey into the hands of corrupt cricket association of Kerala. It was a surprise to know that he didn’t back for Trivandrum as TVM could get an international stadium by 2011 last.

Any way, we are sure that Dr.Tharoor will reorganize his energy and wisdom to the betterment of Trivandrum.

    • C. R. Nambiar /

I cannot imagine of a more foolishly intelligent person in Indian politics. The country projected him for the U N General Secretary’s post, canvassed to the world for his candidature. This is a post reserved for the likes of Bhutros Bhutros Ghali/Koffi Annan etc. Here we have equated Shashi Taroor to their level. He comes and accepts the post of a Minister of State, only to confirm to the world that they were right in not selecting him to the UN’s top job!!

He comes here to Thiruvananthapuram, stands for election to Lok Sabha. The people overwhelmingly votes for him, in the hope, we have a non-controversial Krishna Menon of the 21st Century. Instead, he does not take time to understand the nuances of the murky world of Indian Politics, which, in essence is the commerce of the few strategic political parties, gets into controversies after controversies!

The people who voted him to Lok Sabha are not Congressmen. It is the educated people of Thiruvananthapuram, without party lines. Shashi has betrayed this whole lot of people. Instead of being a spokesman of the voters, he was permanantly fixed on to the political page-3 of Delhi. He could have fought for an IIT in Kerala, he could have canvassed for more food-grains to Kerala from Central quota, he could have got some industrial investment of the Centre to Kerala, which every single politician from Kerala failed till date. Instead, he was more busy changing ladies for himself.

This is a sad state of affair for someone from whom so much was expected. No, politics is not for Shashi. Let him confine to his intellectual discourse, write books, enjoy life in the manner he likes/want. The people of Kerala have different aspirations. The first disgraceful thing was to accept a Junior Minister’s post, that too, under a most eneffective Senior!! He knew many world leaders. He could have been the most effective Foreign Minister. Instead the Congress appointed him as the Minister for Embarrassment!!

I write this out of more pain that anger. What a graceless fall for a person from who endowed with so much of quality, but, who is intently in love with himself alone!!

      Thanks/Regards.

      • Dear C. R. Nambiar,

I strongly disagree with your comments. As you know he is just started the journey as a MP.
But, what about others who we elected before?
        What they done for us?
They know only to attend the party meetings and functions.

So if you comment on Dr. Shasi please consider this in your mind.

        With Best Regards,
        Arun

        • R U Sure /

Glad to note that there are people like C. R. Nambiar however small the number may be who analyse the facts before blindly supporting anyone. Irrespective of his ‘personal’ choices, Dr Tharoor erred in his professional judgement. That is a fact screaming at anyone’s face. as someone pointed out earlier, his bid for Kochi, which would not have a stadium till 2014 instead of tvm which will have one by 2011 speaks volumes for his ‘hidden agenda’ to take the games to the gulf on that pretext only to mint money. Just because politicians before him looted the country, should a new entrant who claimed to change the system also be allowed to indulge in improper conduct? Such logic displays credulity if not hypocrisy.

      • Nambiar,
With due respect, let me ask you one thing. On what ground you said – ” he was more busy changing ladies for himself.”

      • Ah! Atleast he was the only trust worthy minister and that too from gods own country… He did at his best within 1 yr! He could have do lots more, but not with in an yr!

  59. manojj /

    Hi,

I am with Mr.Taroor as he has tried to do some thing for our state and for Trivandrum.
Wonder not even a single politician from Kerala has come forward and supported Mr.Taroor.Leave aside the politician, people of the state should resist such moves and stood by him in the time of this crisis.

May be has was a soft target for the business lobbies in the North and as always they succeed. we will be divided over political interest even if, its for the benefit of the state and others make good advantage of that.

Pls wake up guys, and react, else we will be washed away by the influential people who will take every thing from Kerala to other states.

All the best Sir, we are all with you…..

My mind refuse to buy the reasons given by some of our good friends that IPL played at Kochi will eradicate the unemployment in Trivandrum! Trivandrum has a staggering 34.3%(www.trivandrumtourism.com/peopleand..) of its population unemployed & this is the highest in South India. What Trivandrum needs is a whole lot of development and not IPL matches at Kochi. The problem of Trivandrumites is that they fall for emotions. Let’s not be sycophants. We should judge things by the merit rather than emotions.

    • U R Right /

Well, said! But difficult indeed as most of the supporters are in a state of denial about their ‘best bet’ turning to be a dud. It will take soem time to accept teh reality. Why Did Dr. Tharoor go for a Kochi bid when that city would not have a stadium until 2014, byt TVM would have on eby 2011? it could be the ‘hidden agenda’ that his detractors are claiming about though things ra eyet to come out.

  61. sita viswanathan /

i suppport shashi tharoor for his efforts. He is man who can make our country go ahead. He should not fall in these dirty politics.

  62. anila /

    all support from us….GO AHEAD…

  63. jotishnair /

Many of our friends who commented in support of Dr. Tharoor has glorified the IPL & explained the benefits that the state is going to reap out of it only to strengthen their stance of anointing Dr.Tharoor’s effort to get an IPL team for Kochi to be a good deed and as the need of the hour.

As days passby the pandora’s box is opening; the dirty clandestine dealings in IPL is slowly unfolding, showing that this very tournament is acting as a screen for the politicians in indulging in financial impropriety & for the bigwigs & business barons to gamble. The IPL provides these guys an ideal ground to safe guard their black money and a great oppurtunity to indulge in financial impropriety.

People talk of the government benefiting from taxes out of IPL. Every year the sales at the bevereges corporation increase by fourfold, thereby giving an increase in taxes for the Govt. Is these taxes transfered for development process? It is definitely not reflected on a layman’s life. If taxes are important and should be gotten by any means then the govt should make drugs like cocaine & stuff legal. The govt can earn handsome taxes. IPL is just another cricket tournament and people give importance to this because of the money flow. When W.C.Grace or a Sunil Gavaskar played cricket it was played for the sheer passion for the game. Now, whenever a batsman scoop a ball over the wicketkeepers head for six, he,ll be thinking of this to be a step ahead for his next contract rather than feeling the guilt of playing an ugly shot.
    Hysteria!! What else?

  64. jotishnair /

Every mirky dealings of IPL is getting unfolded,

The parties conducted in the name of IPL is throwing money, russian women, drugs & drinks around
Betting & match fixing has already started. Gujarat alone has 200crore thrown around for betting.

Modi has stakes of the 3 lowest bid teams. Pawar’s son in law & Praful patel’s daughter has stakes in IPL.tharoor story is known.
What had happened to Satyam will happen to IPL sooner or later.

My friends here who were strong advocates of Trivandrum have their foot in the mouth regarding the formation of Kochi IPL team that was backed by the corrupt and regionally biased TC Mathew. Kochi was a tag for certain peoples vested interests.they knew it’d be ahmedabad the home ground if it was kochi team or an Ahmedabad team.
By glorifying IPL we are glorifying Modi &co.

Mr Tharoor i am sure soon you will be back.

Learn from the mistakes,Never trust anyone. Spend some time with political masters like leader.Try to keep a low profile for some time.

You have done nothing wrong except the fact that you where giving too many chances for the media to keep you in the news. You are very experienced in International politics, But Indian politics a lot different especially the media.

All the best and will pray for you.

  66. Thomas Sharjah /

    Dear Tharoor,

You don’t worry about the current situation, it’s for time being only.Everybody in Kerala especially the people who has the vision about Kerala and India will always be with you. We can understand your innocence and sincerity towards the people of Kerala. You have tried your level best for Kerala and its developments in a short span of time.
Please note the media people of India even if they are well educated are unable to understand the right meaning of your comments/statements in English. Moreover you are straight forward and transparent in politics but in Indian politics the politicians like you have to struggle to withstand because 90% of the Indian politicians are corrupted excep few. You have proved your dignity by resigning from the post and no other Indian politicians have the courage to open their mounth like you.

We wish you all the bests in the future.

    Regards,

    Thomas

That Mr. Tharoor will now shift his focus to Trivandrum is welcoming news indeed. Trivandrum badly requires a ‘god father’. It is way behind Cochin. Cochin has got a lot of promoters in business men like Yusuf Ali, Mohammed Ali, apart from politicians like K.V. Thomas. I have not heard about anyone doing anything concrete for Trivandrum any time. We had our hopes pinned on Shahsi Tharoor. As some one has pointed out, what Tharoor has got are not congress votes. They are votes from across the board – from people who wanted a better Trivandrum.

Now that he is “free”, le should sincerely work for Trivandrum”s developments. We will all be behind him.

  68. Binisha /

    Dear Shasi Tharoor

We r all with u, with full support.

  69. Our support is always there with you Mr. Tharoor . Proud to have you as an MP from Kerala

  70. Roy Jose,Kuwait /

WE ARE SUPPORTING U THAROOR SIR,ALL THE BEST IN FUTURE…GO AHEAD….

  71. SAIFUDEEN /

We need your vision and leadership for the entire people in kerala. We know exactly what is happening in pollitics and these useless pollitical leaders and media people can not even think about what is going to happen and what is requied for the future. Sir, We respect what you have done and we will support you for your future endeavours

  72. We support Mr Sashi Tharoor. Hope you will come back in good Position in our Indian Politics again.

    regards

    Byju

  73. Sad Truth /

IPL CEO reportedly sent a document containing projections of new franchisee valuations in IPL to the aviation minister’s daughter; personal secretary of that minister forwarded a mail from her official email id to Dr Tharoor’s personal id attaching that ‘sensitive’ document on March 19, two days before the bids were opened; Tharoor-supported Kochi consortium sprang a surprise by making the second-highest bid. Praful Patel reportedly claims that Dr Tharoor requested him to get the information, he got the information from the IPL and passed it on to help ‘a friend’, that is, Dr Tharoor.

Now one doesn’t have to be a rocket scientist to fathom the murky trail of ‘deals’ underneath. So a comprehensive investigation WILL NOT happen as it would bring more ‘ugly’ sides of many more ‘prominent’ people into the open. Four days after her giving up the sweat equity, this is what Sunanda Pushkar was reported to have posted on Facebook: “What is the reality in between Cricket and Bussiness (sic)… The right think (sic?) is only interested in money (gambling) and GIRLS…. !” One gets the picture!

  74. rajesh /

Yeah! he is great. But one thing. we, people in TVM helped him to be an MP. But he is standing for Cochin. Why there is’nt a cricket stadium in TVM?

  75. SAMUEL AARON H. /

I agree with Mr. Rajesh. Trivandrumites voted for Mr. Tharoor. He should now genuinely work for a cricket stadium of international standard in Trivandrum.

  76. Rammy /

Dont care what happens to his private life. Seems he is having a good time ;-) . What has he done for trivandrum yet!!!. Some one can u pls list it.

  77. Hi

Let’s be practical. ONE Tharoor cannot make a DIFFERENCE. We need many more Tharoors to make a dent in the traditional democracy that we are following.

As for Tharoor, living in Trivandrum, I do not see anything impressive from his side other than the media glare!

He is just another MP, with a lot of ability but nowhere to be seen.

  78. SAMUEL AARON H. /

We need to deliberate on the issue: What has Tharoor done so far for Trivandrum? And, what are his visions for Trivandrum?

    • Scorbik /

Mr Tharoor has done nothing for Trivandrum. He had visions during the elections, which got changed to personal benefits. Anybody could boast things which cannot be implemented. Everyone thought him good and will do some changes and got elected from Trivandrum. But next time he may go elsewhere.

  79. Depends on the odds you bet on, for example if you bet on odds 2.0 you wll reiceve 20 if bet 10. If the odds are 3.0 you will receive 30 for 10 staked.
