It is true that human deaths cannot be justified. But when there is a solution of sterilization that can effectively prevent the deaths, and rabid bites, and other agressive menace, which has been proved successful elsewhere, it is high time for rightful implementation. But unless the public knows about government programs, and helps implement, the program fails. This is where govt role in educating public comes in.

I am an animal lover and have had dogs as pets for many years. I read this article and I am very saddened at the thoughts of people regarding stray dogs. I believe it is high time that the society and the government eliminate the stray dog problem. We can never justify the killing of people by stray dogs and most importantly little children that are playing in the back yard, in school or commuting to school.
If killing by the authorities is termed as cruel, i really wonder if any of the pro stray dog activists have seen a stray do being killed by the public. It is a million times more cruel and these incidents will only rise. I strongly believe that the stray dogs in the city must be killed in the most effective and humane (to all the pro stray animal activists) way.
Loss of one human life cannot be justified due to this problem. It is a pity that the authorities involved do not see this as their failure to do their job.
It may be very soon that the human goondas in the city will soon be replaced by packs of dogs to instigate violence and aid professional killings for the influential people in the city.
Where are we heading in this 21st century, when the rest of the world are curbing such small problems?
