New Trivandrum International Terminal: Photos
New International Terminal of Trivandrum Airport is due for inauguration this week and these photos reveal the inside structure, facilities and beauty of this modern building. Trivandrum International Airport is built with most modern standards and practices in mind and is in par with features found in the best Airports in the country if not better.
Main stream medias may have fired the reporters who collect the development news and decided to ignore all development news and give boost to the crime, depressive news stories. But we got some amazing citizens here in Trivandrum who show keen interest in promoting Trivandrum and its pace in development. We all know the new Terminal in Trivandrum International Airport is due for inauguration this week, but still we are not seeing much updates in media. So, we have sourced some photos taken by Karthik who was lucky to get some inside shots of new Terminal. Karthik managed to cover every nook and corner of the Terminal in detail.
So till the main stream media wake up to show some inside view of Terminal, enjoy the monster terminal through pictures.

It is indeed amazing. None can say now that he is alighting into a bus-stand!
Now, we have to sustain this airport.
1) Introduce more flights.
2) Reduce or eliminate user’s fee.
3) Develop NH 47 on both the Northern and Southern sides of Trivandrum, so that more passengers hailing from the Southern parts of Alleppey and Pathanamthitta districts and from Kanyakumari and Tirunnelvelli districts of TN can arrive comfortably at the airport without facing traffic hazzles.
4) Include duty-free shops of international standards.
5) Promote more hotels (like we have near Nedumbassey Airport) near the airport.
Without political will, all facilities will soon become defunct.

Indeed it’s an awesome achievement for the city of Trivandrum. This should have happened long time back.The development should continue to make Trivandrum a point of entry for techies and tourists to India.
One worrying factor about this airport is that the number of Airlines at this airport is coming down day by day…First to depart was Gulf Air and now,Air Asia…What could be the reason?
AND WHY THE HELL ARE KOCHI AND KOZHIKODE GETTING MORE FLIGHTS WHEN TVR IS A REVENUE EARNER ?

when compare to kochi, Trivandrum donot get much develpment projects. but i happy about our Trivandrum terminal.
Its because TIA is govt owned while CIAL is private owned
I shall be coming to my home town TVM in Jan 2011. I hope that by that time the new terminal would have been inagurated and would be fully functional.
Does not really matter whether new terminal is inaugurated or not. Where are the flights to serve the new terminal? Recently, I tried to go to Bangalore and the cheapest fare was five figure and not even Direct. There were also fares at 36,000!
Last week, I had to catch a flight to Cochin and onward from there by train because the cheapest flight from Blore to Trv was 4800INR and at 630AM! The next cheapest flight was 7000 and it was not Direct! Whereas Cochin had 7 flights on the same day, all direct between 2700 and INR 3500. I am now booking tickets to Delhi for March!!!! It is no better, the cheapest flight is 6000 and it is not Direct! So, what am i going to do next? Take a train to Cochin, obviously!
Too bad, I hope this is not here to stay.
Does any one know on which decade the completed new trivandrum airport terminal will be opened to public!!!
It might be a good idea if there are seperate immigration lines for returning Indian nationals and separate lines for
European Community Nationals then others. Why? because even the Fast Line for 1st Class and Business Class passengers is ignored at the current airport and every Tom Dick or Harry gets in that line.Other airports throughout the world
have this service, why not India, especially Trivandrum?

Buildings, escalator etc are one thing. How the employees manage to maintaian and operate it will decide whether it is of good class or not. Let us not call it world class when Changi, Suwarnabhoomi all are just under 4 hours away. I know the mentality of Malayali, lazy buggers while in Kerala.(Acknowledge hard working outside Kerala) I did not like the meatal sheet luggage conveyors. Energy inefficient and noisy. In this age of green design they should have used belts not steel plates, more of natural lighting and not fluroscent light (remember power shrtage and power cuts in Kerala???) The whole place will look dull with out electric lights. The electricity bill will add to our airport usage fees. Now you all think before jumping in celebration. I am a Trivandrumite and love Trivandrum. I live outside Kerla the land of eternal bhandhs and hartals. God’s own headache! Swagatham. I wrote this piece with pessimistic view because i genuinely wish for a change to better in kerala. I dream of a time when we study work and live in our native place. No need for a separation from parents, wife, children, relatives. Now we are paradesis world over. Why cant we live in our land?
