1st Abhinaya Summer Theatre Festival 2010 – Kerala’s premiere travelling theatre festival to culminate in Thiruvananthapuram
Drama at its best will henceforth mark the Kerala Summers. With selected plays from the creme of their repertoire..Abhinaya presents its first summer theatre festival this year. The travelling theatre festival will transverse Kerala, celebrating a month of contemporary themes on stage.
Ranging from women empowerment to environment to education, the plays in the festival wills showcase the changing dynamics of a changing society through the art. The curtains went up with Sidhartha on 11th May at Kochi. The festival, after performing in 5 cities will hit Thiruvananthapuram for it’s final triumph on 5th June 2010 .
Among the objectives of the festival is to initiate steps for strengthening Abhinaya’s efforts to use theatre as a viable option to train autistic children. The proceedings from the festival will contribute towards Abhinaya’s efforts in sustaining pure art and redirecting the energies derived from that into social causes.
All plays are performed at Co Bank Towers Auditorium. Schedule is as follows:
“Sakharam Binder” Directed by: Jyothish MG – 5th June 7pm
“Palangal” Directed by: D Reghoothaman – 6th June 7pm
“Lesson” Directed by Jyothish MG – 7th June 7pm
