14th International Film Festival

International Film Festival Kerala 2009Take a trip to Kalabhavan theatre, Vazhuthacaud and you can sense the excitement of the crowd gathered inside even from the gates. If you haven’t gathered what this is about, you must have missed reading about this year’s commencement of one of the most celebrated events in Kerala: IFFK 2009. Yep, the 14th International Film Festival of Kerala has laid its cards on the table – well in this case the passes. And all the thousands of delegates who registered for the fest are happy to wait in long queues and the scorching sun to get their ticket to watch the movies brought to the little state from all over the world.

This year, the fest will be showcasing 164 films over 8 days in the various theatres which will be reserved entirely for IFFK. Two days before the opening, people came to Kalabhavan to collect their passes. The big show will start on 11th December, the schedule kit of which will be issued on 10th. All the thousands of delegates and media persons wait once again for that event that thrills and chills, bringing a wave of nostalgia in the crowded theatres where cultures from all over the world shake hands with each other; where the old and new, the near and far becomes one with the young and old.
